Event #65 of the 2021 WSOP is the $1,000 MINI Main Event No-Limit Hold'em event. The MINI Main Event replicates the Main Event by being a freezeout, meaning no re-entries were allowed. However, in contrast to the Main Event, the Mini Main included shorter levels and was offered at a much lower price point. The MINI Main started at 11 am on Wednesday, November 3. It was scheduled for three days of action.
The MINI Main Event No-Limit Hold'em (freezeout) first-place prize went to Georgios Sotiropoulos. This was Sotiropoulos's third World Series of Poker bracelet, ushering him into an exclusive club.
Despite Sotiropoulos's massive tournament successes — he has scored just a little less than $3.3 million in tournament wins at the time of this writing — he isn't too worried about his legacy within the poker world.
“I don’t really think about that,” Sotiropoulos said to the press. “But it’s an amazing achievement. I really love the World Series of Poker, Las Vegas, the tournaments, the people here. Everything excites me. It makes me come again and again. Playing more and winning more and feeling grateful.”
Sotiropoulos walked away with a healthy $432,575 for his win. Japanese player Wataru Miyashita scored second place and an enviable $267328.
France’s Jeremy Saderne won his first WSOP bracelet when this event debuted in 2019. Saderne outlasted 5,520 other players to collect $628,654. The win remains by far the largest payday of Saderne’s career.
