Six-time WSOP bracelet winner Shaun Deeb has emerged victorious in another big-bet challenge, this time in his body-fat (weight loss) prop bet with Bill Perkins. Last March, Deeb wagered $100,000 against Perkins' $1,000,000, getting 10-to-1 odds, that he could reduce his body mass index (BMI) to 17 percent by the start of the 2024 WSOP.
Today, Deeb announced on his X/Twitter account that he had accepted an $800,000 buyout offer from Perkins, having already trimmed his body fat percentage to within a few percent of the wager's target with more than three months left in the prop bet.
"I’m still working toward my goal of 17%," Deeb posted. "I’m going to get there to show my kids that if I can do this, they can do plenty of things people say are too hard or impossible. I initially thought to not announce the buyout since I am determined to reach the goal, but too many people have side action to not let them know that Bill bought out and at what %...."
BFP over 40% when prop bet began
Deeb's road to both a big payday and better health was far from easy. In his first DEXA exam last March, soon after agreeing to terms with Perkins, Deeb began the challenge weighing 306 pounds, and in his first DEXA test a few weeks later, he had a body fat percentage of 40.2% though he'd already dropped the first ten pounds of the challenge.
