PokerStars.com has announced full details for "2022 WCOOP Take 2", the rescheduling of the core tournaments of its 2022 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) that had to be cancelled in the face of malicious DDoS attacks launched against the site in late September.
Three important sets of events -- the NLHE and PLO main events, plus the Women's Championship -- were forced to be rescheduled as the massive DDoS (distributed denial of service) attack was launched against the site's gaming servers by parties yet unknown. PokerStars.com quickly announced that the cancelled events would be re-run in early November, with boosted guarantees, and has now fleshed out details of the replacement offering.
The three sets of championship events, each of which runs in high, medium, and low buy-in versions, will now serve as the centerpieces of 2022 WSOP Take 2, which will run Saturday, November 5 through Wednesday, November 9, 2022. The entire 2022 WSOP Take 2 series will include 66 events and guarantee more than $27.8 million in prize money.
Boosted guarantees for rescheduled events
PokerStars.com also previously announced that it would boost the guarantees for the cancelled showcase events, while creating a spectrum of satellite opportunities for players. The Take 2 launch announcement confirms that Stars will add a combined $2.5 million to the three NLHE main events beginning on Sunday, November 6, as follows:
