Ossi Ketola and Patrik Antonius played the biggest-ever buy-in heads-up game on Friday night in Jeju.
The $20 million winner-takes-all match was announced by Triton Poker on X in a post that read, 'History gets written tonight.'
PokerOrg believes that Ketola's involvement requires context that shouldn’t be separated from the coverage.
Ketola, who owns Duel, an official sponsor of Triton Jeju, has previously used racist language on social media and live streams – often framed by Ketola as an exercise in free speech.
His personal @Monarch account and the related @Duel and @CSGOEmpire business accounts have all been banned from X.
Ketola has continued to publicly express racist views and use explicitly racist language.
Player and author David Lappin recently shared footage of Ketola at a demonstration during which the words 'Sieg Heil' can be clearly heard – although it’s not clear who said it. Ketola went on to use a racist slur to describe the group that had chased him.
During a recent appearance on Roni Arvonen's Kuuntelija podcast, Ketola made his political views very clear, claiming that his ideas about race and genetics are based on facts that society is unwilling to accept. He also called prison "Black people's university" and went on to say: “The whiter Finland is, the better it would be. Even though that sounds really harsh.”
The $20 million match between Ketola and Antonius is newsworthy. That doesn’t mean the conduct and rhetoric of one of its participants should be ignored or normalized.
PokerOrg condemns racism and hate speech in all forms. There is no place for it in poker – or anywhere else. We explained our approach to covering Ketola in full last year.
In today's world of ever-increasing numbers, it takes a lot to stand out.
A heads-up match for $20 million will do it.
It’s easy to get blinded by numbers like this, but here's one way of putting it in perspective. The Triton Main Event in Jeju is a $100K buy-in. That's the same as one big blind in this match.
Million-dollar pots used to be a real rarity. With blinds this big they're hard to avoid.
Is the money real? We’ve had conversations just like this around the recent High Stakes Poker streams. We know Ketola has a cellar full of money and there are plenty of people who would take Antonius’ side against the Finn. We think the money is real.
Patrik Antonius contemplates making a $3M call on the river with top pair. Big bluff from Ketola to take the lead
The first major decision today was on Antonius, who had
.
With the board reading
, Ketola bet $3M into the $2M pot on the river.
Ketola hadn’t gotten out of line before in this match but he was way out of line here, with
. Antonius had a hand that was effectively a bluff catcher, but he couldn’t catch this one, and folded what would have been an $8M pot.
That put Ketola up 11.5M to 8.5M and brought to mind Andy Beal vs. The Corporation. In that high-stakes encounter, Beal’s best weapon against the likes of Doyle Brunson and Phil Ivey was his willingness to play at stakes that meant little to him but took the pros out of their comfort zone.
Overbet bluffing $3M with nothing takes real nerve and a near-bottomless bankroll.
The stakes weren’t nothing, though, even for Ketola.
“Aren’t you nervous at all?” asked Antonius.
“Low-key a bit,” Ketola replied.
“Is it the same as you playing for a million?” Antonius asked.
“It’s not the same,” Ketola said.
“Good,” said Antonius.
Patrik Antonius couldn't find a big bluff on the river.
Antonius fights back
After two and a half hours of play, Antonius took the lead for the first time, winning a $5.2M pot to take his stack to $10.4M.
He rivered top and bottom with
, while Ketola had flopped a lower two pair with
on the
board. Ketola called off a bet of $1.6M from Antonius on the river.
The next pot was a big one – $5.9M.
Antonius raised to $225K with
and Ketola three-bet to $1M with . Antonius called.
Flop:
Ketola flopped best and bet $400K. Antonius called.
Turn:
Ketola checked, Antonius bet $1.55M, and Ketola called.
River:
Ketola checked again. Could Antonius find the bluff? He thought about it, but checked, and just like that, Ketola had a 12.7M/7.3M lead again.

Antonius fell further behind when Ketola turned a straight flush that gave Antonius a king-high straight.

Ketola moved all-in on the river and Antonius used all his time banks but found a fold. It left him with 4.1M to Ketola’s 15.9M.
The end, which came the very next hand, was cruel. The rest of the money – $8.15M – went in preflop with Antonius way ahead.

Ketola picked up more outs on the flop, needing a ten or a jack to take the lead. He found the and Antonius couldn't find the ace or ten he needed on the river to stay alive.
“Not my day,” Antonius said. Which is one way of reacting to losing $10 million in a little over four hours.
Ketola has now won over $16 million in two days, after his victories over Wiktor 'Limitless' Malinowski on Thursday night.
Ketola and Antonius are paired up for the $200K Triton Invitational, which starts on Saturday. Antonius' biggest career cash came in the 2024 Invitational at Triton Monte Carlo, when he was invited to play by Ketola.
