The 2022 Main Event at the World Series of Poker fell just 110 entrants short of breaking the record for attendance. As of now, the record set by 2006's Main Event still stands at 8,773 entrants. This time around, however, the WSOP has an ace up its sleeve to beat the record: Main Event Maynia.

Main Event Maynia Global Qualification Weekend offers players an unprecedented opportunity to earn a seat at the biggest tournament of the year.
On May 20th and 21st, live poker rooms on four different continents will join forces to host Guaranteed Seat Satellite "Step" tournaments. The $140 buy-in gives players a chance to win a Main Event seat, $1,175 in cash, and a travel stipend to Las Vegas.
If this year's Main Event sets a new attendance record, all players in the field will receive entry into a drawing that awards a non-transferable Main Event entry for the next thirty years.
