Dan ‘Jungleman’ Cates is one of the most enigmatic high-stakes players on the planet.
If you've ever wondered what it's like to walk in the high roller's shoes, you're about to find out. The WSOP today launches a brand new vlog from the fascinating, one-of-a-kind player, lifting the lid on the ups and, yes, the often painful downs (as our headline above suggests) of life in the jungle.
The result is not to be missed, as each moment blends brilliance, self-destruction, comedy, volatility, chaos, and charm, all seemingly culminating in an existential crisis.

A million-dollar spiral begins
The new vlog begins with Jungleman arriving in Prague for the WSOP Europe series last month, with the intention of winning at least $2 million.
But those plans soon hit a roadblock in the form of an almost immediate $1.4M loss.
As events unfold, the story becomes part comedy, part tragedy, part WTF: Cates disappears on the WSOP staff, nearly misses a feature table, spirals emotionally, and wonders if he’s 'cursed.'
One poignant moment stands out above all the frenzy: a declaration to everyone in his vicinity, “I just want to lose a million dollars in peace.”
That line alone reveals the scale of the world Cates has navigated over the last two decades.
It's no wonder we can't take our eyes off of him.
Unlike The Terminator, it turns out the real Dan Cates is not bulletproof.
