Ashley Frank is a professional poker player, a popular YouTube content creator with 38K subscribers, a commentator, and an ambassador for the app PokerBros. Just ahead of Christmas, she put out a plea for positive stories to counter the negativity that Poker Twitter had sunk into.
What's been the most exciting part of this past year in poker for you?
Honestly, commentating for the WPT has been a big highlight this year. I really enjoy doing it. It's been something that I like almost more than poker. That’s been the highlight of this year. I also got to do the WPT Prime and the World Championship.
Have you played as much this year as you usually would on the Circuit?
Not really. I bought a house in Dallas, so I took a break from poker. I’ve been getting settled into my new home. I’ve also been spending time with family and taking a lot of time off the felt. I’m just kind of resetting, honestly.
Did you also take a social media break?
Not really; I just stopped my YouTube blogs for a period. But I've still been present on Twitter and Instagram. I'm coming back with my YouTube content soon.
Did you experience any rough poker periods during 2024?
Part of this past year, I was not running well in high EV spots with a lot up top. We’ve all been there. You're getting it all in for a lot of chips and a huge favorite, but it doesn't go your way. That was probably the toughest thing poker-wise.
Ashley Frank is promising a return to YouTube in 2025.Are you playing cash and tournaments? We’ve seen you on a few cash game streams this past year.
I only play cash on live streams, but I love tournaments. I played a bunch of tournament series on and off during the year. That's where my heart is: tournaments. I don't love playing cash anymore.
Did you move to Texas to join their growing poker scene?
No. I moved there about two years ago to be with my family. But it turns out it was actually an amazing decision, poker-wise and business-wise, too.
What’s your game plan for 2025?
I think my goal is to enjoy the process. I feel like within the process that’s where you discover what your goals are. It’s kind of inevitable.
I just want to be healthy physically, emotionally, and mentally. I feel like the byproducts of that will produce good results. I would love to get my Hendon Mob up. I'd love to win another ring. I would love to get another bigger score than I’ve ever had. I want to surpass everything I've done so far.
I want to get to 100K subscribers on YouTube; it's a big goal of mine. I need to crank out vlogs and set myself up for a successful year. For me, that starts with mindset and feeling good.
You’ve always had fitness a priority in your life. Are there any tips you can pass along to players struggling to get into a fitness grove?
Be consistent with your workouts. It could be very simple, like going on long walks. Most people can do that. I think people can start there and perhaps incorporate some weightlifting to improve overall fitness.
