Scott Stewart built his stack well throughout the day, but then went on a rush late in the day to score two huge eliminations to end Day 2 by 8:30 pm PT with a huge stack and just five more opponents to go.
The 8-time Circuit ring winner bagged 7,100,000 chips, more than double his closest opponent when play resumes on Monday to crown a champion.
That closest opponent may have something to say about Stewart's Tahoe coronation though, as it's 21-time ring winner, Ari Engel.
Engel held the lead for much of the late part of the day until Stewart's late heater, and will be looking to regain it when the final six return to the Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe stage at noon on Monday.
This is how they'll stack up.
WSOPC Lake Tahoe end of Day 2 chip counts:
- Scott Stewart - 7,100,000 (141 bb)
- Ari Engel - 3,100,000 (62 bb)
- Tyler Parker - 2,600,000 (51 bb)
- Harshvardhan Baghel (48 bb)
- James Czarnecki - 1,500,000 (30 bb)
- Vishnu Chada - 700,000 (14 bb)
The chip counts take into account a return for the end of Level 24, and blinds of 25,000 / 5,000 (50,000), but with only nine seconds remaining in the level, those big blind totals will be trimmed quickly tomorrow.
Join us tomorrow for the final sprint toward the Main Event champion's ring and the $125,279 first prize.
